Welcome to Oh! Susanna Vintage Photo Parlor

On 10/20/2023 we closed our brick and mortar location. We thank the city of Golden, it’s residents and its many visitors for having supported our small business over the years.

We still have many online services that you can take advantage of, the primary ones being listed below.

PERSONALIZED ART

Surprise someone with Personalized Art!

Looking for a one-of-a-kind gift? We are excited to announce a new service that requires only a headshot and you can choose the background and accessories all digitally. All we need is a good HEADSHOT! We can shoot the headshot here in our studio or email us a headshot and we can place it into a multitude of different backgrounds from an 8x10 vintage portrait to a Movie Poster!

If you are sending us a headshot, here are suggestions to give the best outcome:

1. Good, even light on the face. (No shadows or loss of detail in the highlights)

2. High quality as you can. A pixelated image is harder to work with.

3. Use a head position of the subject to realistically fit into your chosen background. Best is always straight on unless the final piece needs to be in profile, depending upon what you chose for your background art. If you’re unsure, contact us and we can help make a suggestion to what will give the best final results.

4. Let us know if you want to use their hair or we replace it with a style appropriate for the time period. Take off all modern accesories such as glasses, baseball hats, etc, before you shoot. We can always edit somethings out, but its easiest if we don’t have to.

TIPS FOR SHOOTING A GOOD HEAD SHOT

If you are going to be sending us a head shot for use in our Personalized Art offering, here are some tips to get the highest quality possible:
• The quality of your photo is VERY important if you want a good final result. Make sure to set your camera to its highest settings. Some cell phones do great shots, but if not, use a digital camera always using the best setting options. Files that are too small result in pixelated, unflattering art. Keep in mind that the quality of your photo can affect the maximum size it can be printed, so if you are wanting a movie poster, think BIG files!
• Please send us photos with the head turned in the correct angle for the image you have chosen. If you need help, you can call or email us for advice.
• Medium to Close-ups are best without a lot of objects behind you (a blank wall is ideal) Contrast makes it easier for us to distinguish between subject and background. So if they have light hair, shoot against a dark wall and vice versa.

• Even lighting works the best without shadows. Make sure you can see detail in the darker areas (hair, muzzle, fur, eyes) and detail in the highlights (for instance, for light colored hair, detail in the hair and not blown out to white)

• Whatever accessories you have on in the photo (glasses, earrings, hat, etc) will appear as well in the final image. So keep that in mind.

Of course, if all you have is a “not perfect image,” we can do our best to give you something you still love!

Contact us and we can talk about it (303) 216-0877

Hand Tinting Effect Samples

You can also try a nostalgic look with hand-tinted images, giving the effect of old time photos for $25 per image. Examples are shown below.

Pet Portraits!

Let’s not forget our furry friends! Come into our studio and let us photograph your Pooch! We have a selection of props like hats and scarves that you can dress your pet with in our saloon scene for a fun, wild west portrait! Or we can shoot just a head shot of your pet and let us work our magic and edit your dogs into a vintage photograph! We can personalize these as well with names! Included on your shoot is one edited 8x10 digital image that we will email to you.

Just a reminder that these are DIGITAL IMAGES not PRINTS. Once you have the files, you may print them as much as you like and share with your friends and family.

For a fun surprise gift for the pet lover in your family, send us a high quality image of their prized pet’s head and we can edit it into one of our backgrounds. They will love it!

Pets we photograph in studio can be photographed in Wild West or Victorian backgrounds or just a head shot and can be edited into one of our photo portraits. If you have a favorite digital image you would like us to use, contact us at 303-216-0877 or suzanne@ohsusannavintagephoto.com.

The price for one pet is $45 and an additional $5 per extra pet in the same image in our wild west or Victorian settings. Digital editing using a head shot is an additional $25. Contact us if you would like more information (303) 216-0877
